~/about

Gabriel Emmanuel

I'm a backend and cloud engineer with 7+ years building production systems across banking, healthtech, real-time analytics and my own company.

At Norebase I built a Change Data Capture pipeline that cut analytics query latency from ~300ms to ~5ms, and implemented SCIM-based identity sync. At First Bank of Nigeria I work on server-side payment processing across three banking subsidiaries.

The principle I keep coming back to: complexity should be earned. I prefer cohesive, boring architectures — relational invariants, transactional outboxes — over distributed sprawl the problem doesn't need.

~/scalefort

Scalefort

In January 2020 I founded Scalefort, a tech school and IT services company I've run alongside senior engineering roles.

Leadership & mentoring

Wrote backend and distributed-architecture curricula and mentored 100+ developers on systems thinking, TDD and production habits. Many now work as professional engineers.

IT services

Delivered client software end to end, including the architecture ofKomuvo.

~/under-the-hood

Under the hood

You're currently using one of my projects.

Most pages on egabriel.dev are static content; a few interactive parts (the Failure Lab and API Explorer) talk to a small public API.
Static first

Pages render to static HTML. JavaScript only loads for the parts that need it: the Failure Lab and the API Explorer.

The database decision

There is no database because this portfolio doesn't need one.

Most portfolio content is version-controlled and changes infrequently. Adding a database would increase operational complexity without solving a real problem.
